My work is from psychodynamic perspective which means it emphasises on unconscious thought, the conflict between biological drives and society's demands, and early childhood family experiences. It helps clients understand their emotions and unconscious pattern of behaviour by talking through these emotions and behaviours.
I'm trained at the University of Exeter: Master degree (MSc) Psychological Therapies: Practice and Research: Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic therapy. I also hold a Psychology degree (BSc, Hons) from University of Exeter and a Diploma in Counselling from Exeter College. I have over 8 years of experience working as a therapist. I also trained at Tavistock Relationship, London for Couple Work Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My experience:
I work with intercultural relationship/marriage and international students, multicultural backgrounds, refugees, and domestic violence. I have been practicing for over 8 years both privately and within independent and charitable organisations. These include adult, children, and young people's services.
How can I help:
My role working with individual, couple or relationship therapy is to create a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment where you can discuss what's bothering you. I will help you to communicate more effectively and reach your own conclusion about the way forward.
In the initial session I will ask you what you would like to achieve out the therapy and where you would like to get to, even if you are still unclear about it, we will work with that. By working on how you communicate is the first step to helping you achieve your goal.
As a therapist, I am open, down to earth and warm. I aim to make you feel comfortable from the first time we meet, so you can feel free to bring any concerns to the session.
I am passionate in my work working with individuals, couples, marriage relationships, and committed to working ethically and safely to overcome the challenges that we are presented with.
