My name is Monica and I am a certified trainer in NeurOptimal® neurofeedback brain training. Alongside this, I am completing my PhD at the University of Exeter, where I am passionately researching the processes of stigmatisation and de-stigmatisation of autism in the workplace.
As a neurodiversity advocate - a 'hat' that I wear across all facets of my life - I have a strong sense of justice and believe in a society that works for everyone, where everyone should be able to thrive and make use of their full potential. My core lifetime values are compassion and a willingness to help others. These have led me to qualify as a psychologist and have shaped my journey through life. I have undertaken neurofeedback brain training myself and have been amazed with the changes I have noticed. Because neurofeedback has been so transformational, it was clear to me that this was something that many others would benefit from. This has inspired me to become a NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback trainer, so that others can also take advantage of the limitlessness benefits that this revolutionary brain training system has to offer.
What is NeurOptimal® neurofeedback? NeurOptimal® is an advanced automated form of neurofeedback. Neurofeedback is a 100% non-invasive, drug-free brain training system that helps the central nervous system (CNS) make the best use of your brain's natural resources. Every brain is capable of optimal functioning, but when your central nervous system is out of balance, your brain operates sub-optimally. Neurofeedback helps re-store the balance within the central nervous system, by targeting the shifts in the brain's activity that can undermine optimal brain function.
How does NeurOptimal® neurofeedback work? NeurOptimal® uses sensors to read the brain's electrical activity and provides that information to the brain in real time. This is done through auditory cues whilst listening to music. This information gives 'feedback' to the brain about its current functioning, including any sub-optimal or maladaptive patterns. The brain uses this information to (re)organise itself. When the brain goes through this process of re-organising itself, a lot of challenges can be alleviated as the brain decides to adopt more adaptive ways of being and responding to its environment. As the neurofeedback training progresses, the brain becomes increasingly more flexible and resilient and the individual goes through a powerful transformation.
