We are two colleagues working collaboratively to offer a service which draws on our combined experience of over forty years, together with our knowledge and passion for our work.
We are both accredited therapists (BACP and UKCP registered) offering Individual Counselling sessions using either Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic Practice and/or a solution focused approach. Research findings consistently demonstrate that the model of therapy is only one contributory factor to providing a robust therapeutic experience. Perhaps it’s no surprise that what is more often significant, is the relational aspect in a therapeutic relationship. Useful to keep in mind when there seem to be so many ways of working and psychotherapists to choose from.
Our experiences in working for the NHS, family centres, employment assistance programmes and Universities have meant that we are comfortable working with various age groups aged 18 to 80 plus. We also work with a wide range of issues, that include more common presentations such as anxiety, depression, childhood difficulties, historical abuse and social unease. Despite these commonalities, each person brings their individual experience and sense of what it means for them. Our premise being “We are the same and different” helps us to provide you, with what we hope is an emotional freedom and security to explore the human conditions that challenges one’s mental and emotional wellbeing.
As well as Individual Counselling, we also provide:
Couple Counselling using a Emotionally focused and Integrative approach which is offered by Chanden. She helps couples identify ways of strengthening their relationship as well as Uncoupling with integrity. She has a particular expertise when one person in the couple has depression.
Mentoring, which is a useful space if feeling stuck whilst working towards an external goal. Maria can help you identify blocks, so that you set your own ‘soft’ deadlines and move forward. She uses a combination of therapeutic skills and a practical/constructive approach.
Together we also run regular discussion/exploratory/therapeutic groups (maximum of 8 Participants). Our current group ‘What’s my place in the world?’ is based on culture and identity. Various specific themes run throughout the year - see our website for other group listings.
