Whether it's a cloudy mind or a storm from trauma, our mental health weathers a great deal. Sometimes it feels like we have no protection. Together we will look to develop your resilience and create breaks in the gloom to get some light and warmth.

The way I work. One of the most important factors in the success of any counselling, is the relationship between the client and counsellor. I hold this fact very closely in my mind, so it is very important to me that we have a counselling relationship where you feel safe, that you can trust and that you are jointly in control of.
My focus is on supporting you with the issues that you bring to counselling. This may be one issue in particular or it might be a number of interconnected things. As the different episodes in our lives can be like different layers, you might want to work on the top layer, dealing with issues that are affecting you today. Or it may be that we work deeper down on a layer that contains a past trauma and which is affecting everything above it. In all the work we do, we will work slowly and carefully, looking closely at what you want to work, so that your knowledge and understanding of the issue is increased.
Throughout my work, you will notice how I build and make connections with what's going on in your life today with what has happened in the past. I believe this is essential, in order to have more clarity about why something is happening or why you are thinking and feeling a certain way. By doing this you will have a greater understanding of what needs to change and we will look at how you can do things differently, if that is what you want.
Supporting the LGBTQ community
I am LGBTQ+ affirmative. I passionately support the LGBTQ community, having worked with many people on their gender, relationship and sexual diversities. I understand the benefit and sometimes the need to talk to someone that is from the same community. This is because there is a shared understanding and belief in what is being talked about, which helps create and build the necessary feeling of trust and safety in the counselling relationship.
