I also specialise in offering counselling and support to survivors of sexual violence, which includes rape, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse.
Issues I can support you with:
• Anxiety
• Low mood and Depression
• Low confidence and Self-Esteem
• Bereavement/Grief
• Loss
• Stress
• Career/Life purpose
• Physical/Emotional Abuse and Neglect
• Childhood Sexual Abuse
• Sexual Violence
• Attachment Issues
• Relationship difficulties
• Trauma
• Self-harming behaviours
• Suicidal thoughts
My integrative-relational approach to counselling integrates being person-centred with psychodynamic theory, which means I will be led by you about what to focus on in therapy, yet will also seek to explore how your current difficulties may have been influenced by your past. Every person is different, so my therapeutic style incorporates different counselling approaches and techniques in our work together such as mindfulness for example, if it feels as though this might be beneficial for you.
I believe that people are diverse individuals whose lives and issues are influenced by varied experiences and intersections, based on; background, culture, ethnic identity, gender identity, sexuality, disability etc. My therapeutic approach values difference and acknowledges that each client has their own unique needs and experiences of the world, and I welcome you to bring your whole self into therapy.
The most important thing to me in therapy is offering you a safe, non-judgemental space to feel seen and heard, where you can talk through your issues and explore what might be causing them. I do not give advice or tell you what to do, my aim is to build a trusting, respectful therapeutic relationship with you, where you feel supported to find your own solutions on how to heal, move forward and create meaningful change in your life.
My role is to stay alongside you in your process offering warmth and empathy, enabling you to connect with your emotions, deepen your self-awareness and identify any emotional wounds that are impacting your current life and relationships. In doing so I hope to assist you in reconnecting with your wants and needs, so you can feel content, confident and live as your authentic self. The road to healing and recovery can be dark, challenging, and lonely, and I endeavour to be with you in the dark and help you find the light.
If you're wondering more about how I work or whether I can support you with your specific issues, please don't hesitate to get in touch for a free, initial chat.
