People seek therapy for all kinds of reasons, and whilst some are considering therapy for the first time (a potentially daunting prospect) other people may have had therapy before, albeit a different modality such as CBT, person-centred, existential, etc. The different types of therapy can seem confusing but the most important thing, in my opinion, is the relationship you have with your therapist.
