Counselling can help raise awareness of patterns, themes and behaviours in your life, which in turn, facilitates sustainable changes or acceptance of a challenging situation such as loss or illness.
We all experience difficulties at some stage in our lives which can affect confidence, self-esteem, and relationships. Healing comes from developing a deeper connection with your core self and improved insight into your ability to make changes.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and am a fully Registered and Accredited Member of the BACP with ten years experience of counselling. I work with individuals and am experienced in working within a wide range of settings
I bring an open, non-judgemental curiosity to my work and am interested to hear about your inner world, in the belief that you have the capacity to be guided by your own wisdom. With experience, I balance a Person-centred, empathic approach to our sessions, with other models of counselling such as Cognitive behavioural therapy, Emotionally focused therapy, Transactional Analysis and creative work.
Working collaboratively, with a sense of compassion is central to my work, which helps to develop a trusting and supportive relationship, whereby clients feel able to share themselves wholly.
I am particularly interested in how we relate to one another and the impact that life's challenges can have on our resilience within our relationships including, with ourselves.
Outside of my private practice, I work as an Oncology Counsellor (since September 2013) at the Force Cancer Support Centre, Exeter, where I co-facilitate groups as well as work with individuals and couples. I previously worked for more than two decades as a Registered Nurse.
It can be challenging to find a counsellor who you are comfortable with so I charge half price for an introductory session
