Susan Lacroix Anma shiatsu, Homeopathy, Counselling
Kenshin Anma practitioner.
Kenshin anma has been developed by H F Ito and means the essence of health. It is a non diagnostic massage form designed to promote well being and to stimulate the flow of energy in the body, releasing tensions and helping circulation. Performed fully clothed, it consists of a set sequence of movements, called a kata, which include gentle rhythmic motions and stretching, rubbing, pressing, and some percussive techniques using the meridian or energy lines of the body, according to traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine. Anma should bring a general feeling of increased ease and relaxation.
Anma is the most ancient recorded form of massage, a precursor of shiatsu, and there are many testimonials to its effectiveness.
Loose clothing is recommended. Anma should not be performed for women who are pregnant or actively trying to be so and cancer patients must have permission for a treatment from their doctors.
I studied kenshin anma shiatsu under H F Ito and Anma France, and received a diploma from East West College, Surrey. My interest in anma is a result of my study of shintaido, a meditative martial art from Japan, which means New Body Way. Massage is traditionally taught in this context and each discipline informs the other, so an anma treatment shares the quality of partner work, or kumite, translated as ‘joining hands’, which is at the heart of shintaido practice.
A treatment takes around 1hour 15 minutes and costs £35.
Homeopathy and Counselling
I offer one to one counselling support in dealing with depression, anxiety, addictions and eating disorders, grief and loss, dissatisfaction, and difficult life events among others. My counselling aim is to listen, and then to work together to explore whatever issues you want to bring. My hope is for new perspectives on old issues, and that in the space of the relationship we build, new understanding and approaches to difficulties in your life become possible creating increased well being and ease through counselling.
I have a particular interest in working with trauma (which means ‘wound') , anxiety, phobias, and depression, and have qualified as a Somatic Experiencing practitioner, using the methods of Dr Peter Levine and others for both chronic and acute trauma. This way of working aims to avoid retraumatising a person while helping to create resilience and resources to manage and deal with the triggers.
The first counselling session is free for us to discuss if counselling and I seem right for you. Subsequent counselling sessions, of 55 minutes, are £40. We will make a contract for a number of sessions with a review to assess progress.
Homeopathy first appointments of up to 90 minutes are £60 and follow up usually a month later- is £35. Concessions may be available. I require 24 hour notice of cancellation or will need to charge the full fee.
