I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist in training. I am currently working towards graduation in Core Process Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute.
As a therapist, I offer a compassionate and spacious environment where you can bring all aspects of yourself. Every part of you is welcome here and there are no subjects that cannot be explored. You might come to therapy because you are experiencing difficult or unbearable feelings or perhaps you would like to understand yourself more deeply or find meaning in your life. There is no right or wrong reason to try therapy. Core Process therapy draws on both eastern and western psychology, integrating Buddhist teachings with those from more contemporary theorists.
We will also use embodiment and mindfulness - paying attention to what is happening in the present moment, especially in the body. This can help to see below the story in our cognitive minds to reveal a deeper truth or meaning to what we experience. Core process therapy holds that we all have intrinsic health - a central wellness and goodness that can be obscured by patterns created when we meet difficult experience. This concept means that we can reframe the idea that people are broken and come to therapy to be fixed. We can also explore the aspects of life that drive and inspire passion in you - we sometimes bury the good stuff as much as we bury the bad.
I believe enquiring into these positive aspects of life are as important as working with those that cause us suffering. Both are crucial when it comes to leading a full life and feeling joy. As the relationship between client and therapist is so important, I offer a free initial session where we can explore how we might work together and allow both of us to decide whether we would be a good fit. I abide by the code of ethics of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy). I offer therapy at a reduced rate that reflects the stage I am at in my training journey.
