Hi! My name is Tim and I am a USA trained John F Barnes Myofascial Release therapist, I also hold a BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy from the London School of Sports Massage. I help individual clients to live a more pain-free, active lifestyle and release trauma-related tissue restrictions by accessing the innate healing potential we all have in our own bodies. I also offer colleague wellbeing services to businesses.
I discovered the John Barnes MFR approach by accident really, an enquiry about seated massage training led me to Sally Morris (www.sallymorris.co.uk), who is John's MFR study group leader for the UK. I became curious about MFR, instinctively feeling the way it accessed the mind- body's own healing wisdom offered a higher level of therapeutic connection which my soft tissue toolkit was missing. So my learning journey changed direction.
Having trained in MFR with Sally since 2019, I finally made it to Sedona, Arizona in March 2022 for 11 days continuous training with John and his team. It was life-changing and I am already planning a return visit to study more and undertake a work placement in one of John's world-renowned clinics.
This treatment approach is very gentle and yet very powerful, usually with the client lying on a treatment couch. I will help you to get "centred" and bring all of your attention inside your own body, quietening that mental chatter we all have, and I will centre myself too. In that safe space the MFR techniques may prompt deep relaxation, fascia restrictions to ease, emotional releases, heat generation and localised vascular flushes. There may also be involuntary movement response, known as Unwinding. We only ever go as deep into this state as you, the client, feel comfortable with. I also try to offer clients practical self-care advice and encourage learning about fascia
