About Me; I am a fully qualified and accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapy counsellor based in Bristol, offering appointments online and in person. I provide a safe space where you can be heard with empathy and understanding. I look forward to hearing your unique story and helping you with the transformative effects of CBT.
Sessions/Getting Started; During the first session (consultation) I aim to learn more about you, what you would like to work on, and explain CBT. It also allows you to see how I work and decide if CBT is a right fit for you. The consultation is 50 minutes long, as is each consectutive session if you decide to continue. We will ideally meet once weekly.
What is CBT? Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is one of the leading, evidence based talking therapies. I specialise in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) which is one of the main schools of CBT. How I work and how it can help you I use evidenced techniques to identify underlying causes of unhealthy negative emotions (anxiety, fear, depression, shame, anger, hurt...) then work collaboratively to achieve a significant reduction in the intensity and frequency of future occurrences. This process is solution-focused and will help you break unhealthy patterns of negative thinking, self-defeating behaviour, and overcome challenging life circumstances. The process can be very effective for anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, negative self-talk and much more.
Training, qualifications & experience; Diploma in CBT/REBT (Distinction) Advanced Diploma in CBT/REBT (Distinction) Advanced Diploma in Integrative CBT/REBT (Distinction) I hold Accredited Registrant membership with the National Counselling Society (NCS) I work as a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist for Anxiety UK (a national anxiety charity), MSI Reproductive Choices (an international healthcare company) and in private practice.
