UTE KANNGIESSER - she/her
Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
(UKCP Trainee Member)
I am an Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in my final year of training at THE BOWLBY CENTRE in London. I have experience working in the charitable sector and as trainee therapist in private practice.
I work with adults from diverse backgrounds who would like to take an exploratory approach in understanding how their unconscious, early attachment patterns, and possible traumatic experiences impact on their health, sense of self, and relationships.
My experience has covered a range of issues including anxiety, depression, difficulties with relationships and sexuality, burn-out, low self-esteem, bereavement (including pregnancy loss), unresolved grief, questions of identity and belonging, neurodivergence, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and complex histories of trauma and abuse.
Prior to my current Psychotherapy training, I have studied Psychodynamic Counselling (CertHE) in the Department of Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck University. I also have an MA in Cultural Studies from New York University and international work experience in the arts, research and higher education.
I usually work with clients once or twice weekly on a mid or long-term basis. And I will aim to adjust sessions to individual needs as much as possible.
