I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Integrative Psychotherapist who works with individuals and couples. As well as having my own private practice, I have worked as an honorary counsellor in a number of corporate, medical and voluntary settings. I now see clients in Westbury Park, Clifton and Westbury-on-Trym.
In addition to my clinical work, I also work as a Module Leader, Research Supervisor and Examiner for the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at Metanoia Institute/Middlesex University.
I bring together a number of complementary approaches (including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, CBT, and mindfulness if appropriate) to help you become more aware of what is going on both in and around you. I focus on how your experiences in the present reflect patterns from your past – and together we will explore how your body, emotions and behavioural patterns are inter-related. This will help you to learn more about yourself so you can resolve and move on from issues that are holding you back.
These might include: depression, anxiety, panic attacks, addictions, relationship problems, eating disorders, low self-esteem, trauma, bereavement, bullying, stress, sexual dysfunction, fears and phobias.
Relationship counselling can help you to understand the reasons for your difficulties and find a way to move forward in the best way for both of you.
Common problems that couples experience include: communication problems, sexual issues, infidelity, illness, parenting problems, money matters, cultural differences, blending second families, work-life balance, separation or divorce, addictions, concerns pre-marriage or civil partnership, fertility problems, empty nest/retirement.
Please note, if you are registered with AXA Health Insurance, you may be able to speak to your GP/Psychiatrist about a referral.
