Sin Yin Janet Yick

Ms. Sin Yin Janet Yick is a psychotherapist (BACP) based in Bristol. She is currently at the final stage of her study in a Professional Doctorate degree at the University of the West of England (to be completed in summer 2025) focusing on counselling psychology, health anxiety and psychological trauma. Her doctoral thesis focused on the lived experiences of Hong Kong Chinese men’s HIV anxiety.

Before pursuing her doctorate study, Ms. Yick worked as a counsellor and manager in a charity specialising in sexual health issues. She was also the joint representative of the Hong Kong Psychological Society for IPsyNet (International Psychology Network for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Issues). While studying for her doctorate degree, she worked in the National Health Service (NHS) and charities in the UK.

Ms. Yick has extensive clinical experiences and is particularly good at working with gender and sexual identity issues, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), emotional issues (such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anger, and academic or work stress), life crisis management, and neurodiversity-related issues in adults (including autism and ADHD/ ADD).

Ms. Yick provides individual and couples counselling/ psychotherapy. Her therapeutic approach is relational integrative approach, which means that she focuses on the relational context in therapy while applying different kinds of therapy and techniques to fit the needs and difficulties of each individual. In addition, she is committed to providing clinical supervision for counsellors.

Sessions can be conducted in Cantonese, Mandarin and/or English. She provides both in-person (in Bristol only) or online sessions.
