Susie Bradforth
Hi I’m Susie and I’m a qualified integrative counsellor offering face-to-face counselling to adults. I have worked for many years in higher education and business settings. I work in a client-centric way, believing that the client is an expert in themselves, and I encourage collaborative exploration and offer gentle observations to aid the therapeutic process. I am an advocate of the therapeutic relationship being at the heart of a successful counselling experience providing a warm, safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space for honest dialogue.
I believe that every client is unique, and tailor my counselling to suit each client, using a range of theoretical approaches. I also believe in being authentic, and that having a sense of humour can at times relieve the intensity of sessions where appropriate. I can provide a particularly empathetic ear, having suffered life-changing experiences myself. I am a mother of three children and understand the challenges of a hectic work/life balance where sometimes there seems to be no room for oneself.
Alongside 1:1 Private Practice, I offer short to medium-term counselling at a local charity to those who have suffered from historic/recent rape or sexual abuse, or those indirectly affected. The diversity and complexity of clients that I have worked with in this post have enriched my counselling ability and general outlook on life.
I am a strong advocate of outdoor ‘walking’ therapy where I believe the combination of side-by-side, forward movement, together with the natural environment, aids the therapeutic process. Walking therapy is also ideal for those who find it awkward to look directly at their therapist!
