Julian Moorman
I have substantial experience working with children and young people of all ages, and with their parents.
I am licenced to work with young people up to the age of 25. I am able to work with young people presenting with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, peer relationship difficulties, school issues, behavioural difficulties, anger outbursts, emotional regulation issues, low self-esteem, trauma, bereavement, separation anxiety, eating disorders, and gender identity issues, amongst others.
I offer interventions ranging from one-off assessments and consultations, to time-limited therapy and long-term psychotherapy. I would first encourage a brief, free telephone consultation to discuss the presenting problems, to answer any questions a parents you may have, and to consider arranging a meeting. I have a lot of experience in the need to be sensitive and thoughtful in how to engage a young person and their family. With children, this may be play-based. Adolescents may wish to draw, for example, or may be ready to talk, but may need to build trust over time.
Work with Young Adults and with Parents is a collaborative approach trying to build understanding together. My approach is patient-led. Interventions are always jointly agreed with families.
